Cheese!

I've been slacking a little on posting.  It's just been a super busy summer.  We've done quite a bit of traveling, international and domestic.  I'll talk about that more in later posts.

So, cheese!  Cheese has always been one of my favorite things but I just don't know a whole lot about it.  Several months ago, I met the milk maid at the local library.  We found out that we're both new to the area and quickly became very good friends.  At one of our play dates/lunches, she invited me to her cheese-making class at the McEvoy Ranch to be her assistant.  I'm so lucky!

The first stop that day was a local dairy farm to get fresh milk.  I remember stepping out of the car and inhaled this strong and familiar dairy farm smell.  It put a smile on my face.  We picked up 30 gallons of milk and off we went to the ranch.

We were welcomed by this beautiful rock wall and iron gate.

Then we went down a beautiful road to the ranch's country kitchen.

The cheese class.  There were about 20 of us.  We learned how to make mozzarella.

After the class, we had to stop at the store.  It sells the ranch's olive oil and its body care product line called 80 Acres.

On the way back, I notice they have their very own wind turbine!

What a perfect day!  The only thing missing is we didn't get to tour the ranch.  Next time!
