Creative Anthropologie

One of my favorite places to fill an hour (or two) in-between errands is Anthropologie. There is so much to see at the store. I love wandering and taking in all the beautiful and thoughtfully-designed details.

I often wonder what it's like to work in Anthropologie's creative team. A couple of months ago, a friend told me about an event at our local Anthropologie store that had its customers help make the holiday decor for the store. Of course, I had to sign up.

My friend and I were assigned to operate the heavy-duty die cutters. These are pretty serious pieces of equipment. I felt so... trusted. We were responsible for cutting plastic shrink wrap into different shapes. The shrink wrap had been stacked together in three layers and ironed so that they were hardened and easier to cut. I've been wondering what they did with them so I went to the store yesterday.

The store front has this wow factor. From a distance, it's hard to tell what they used to create this amazing curtain of colors.

So I got closer.

I walked in the store and was welcome by this resident vintage garden cart that's normally placed right outside of the store.

Here are the circle shrink wrap we cut. I was very proud.

Then, I just had to wander and get inspired.

Before I realized, an hour had passed and I was running late to my next errand.

Old Photos

Happy New Year! We went home to the midwest over the holidays. It is a trip that I look forward to all year long. It's so nice to be surrounded by family and friends. We had such a wonderful time and it was hard to leave. I have to say that the highlight of the trip for me, besides eating the best steak on the planet, was to receive these old family photographs from the grandparents. Some of these are dated in the 1920s!

Take a closer look at some of my favorites...

I have grown to appreciate old photos over the years. The colors, the texture, the stories... they just have so much to offer. I'm so lucky to have received these. Now I just need to figure out how to display them.
